Windows 7 Logon Background Checker is a tool to change the wallpaper on the OS logon screen.

Unless disabled, Windows 7 greets users with a logon screen. This screen is often also called a welcome screen, a login screen and even LogonUI. Whenever you are logged out, this is the screen you will see, and Windows 7 Logon Background Checker is a utility that lets you set it to whatever you like using any image that you have available to you.

Windows 7 Logon Background Checker supports all versions of Windows 7: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate and Enterprise. The program also supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the operating system. It is also not just limited to laptops and desktop PCs. If you have a smartphone or tablet running Window 7, for instance, it will work there as well.

Note that Windows 7 Logon Background Checker also works with Windows Server 2008 R2. It is not officially supported, but the logon screen is essentially the same between these two environments, and if for someone reason you do want to change the server logon screen, then this will work.

Windows 7 Logon Background Checker is based on WPF or Windows Presentation Foundation. Many WPF-based applications required a dedicated GPU, but that is not the case here. Basing the program on WPF has certain positive implications. The program does not itself require admin privileges to perform tasks, and it does not have to alter any system files in any way.

This program is quite simple to use. Just point it to an image, such as a photo you have captured or an image you have downloaded for the Web. Do not worry if the image is exactly appropriate for the logon screen in terms of characteristics. Windows 7 Logon Background Checker will create a JPEG from the image you selected that does conform to the requirements.

One way to improve this program would be to include automation. As it is, every time you want to change the image, you have to do it manually. It would be nice to have a collection of logon images that the program could set based on a schedule or just randomly each day, week and so on. This would be similar to the logon screen capabilities Windows 10 offers out of the box.
